Red roses frequently show up in works of art. Dark red roses represent unconscious beauty and are a bold expression of love. Dark red roses have the aura of mystery. In this captivating painting Jeff Makin shows his absolute mastery of the still life genre and deep understanding of beauty.
Jeffrey Makin was born in Wagga Wagga, NSW. In 1966 Makin completed a Diploma in Painting at the National Art School, Sydney. After graduating, he held his first exhibition at the Watters Gallery and received the Rockdale and Drummoyne Prizes.
