Dawn Sime was born in Melbourne and studied at RMIT. She had a number of solo exhibitions 1954-93 in Melbourne, Adelaide,Canberra and Auckland and a retrospective at Hawthorn City Gallery. Geometric abstraction influenced her early work while later she developed a more fluid style of abstraction. The Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, held a survey of her work in 1996 and her work was included in Another Look: Six Women Artists of the 1950’s, Heide, 2000.
Dawn Sime is represented in the NGA, AGWA, NGV; regional galleries Benalla, Castlemaine and Auckland City Art Gallery, NZ.
